Thanh Oai is a land of talents with 46 academicians in the feudal era having their name honoured at Van Mieu (Temple of Literature). It is home to 266 relic sites, including 151 at the national and city levels.
Thanh Oai has the typical beauty of a northern countryside area with many old villages and unique traditional craft villages, which is a favourable condition for tourism development.
Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Khanh Binh said that despite the great advantages, local residents’ awareness of tourism development has remained modest. The district has yet to define key tourism products as well as financial and human resources for the industry.
Vice Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that in the city’s planning for tourism development until 2020 with a vision to 2030, Thanh Oai is located in the Day River tourism belt with a strength in craft village and cultural tourism with riverside relics and ecosystem.
He advised Thanh Oai to focus on building policies to encourage and support individuals, organisations and businesses to develop new, green and sustainable tourism products, while increasing connections of its relic sites and craft villages to form cultural and historical tours, along with eco-tourism and rural tourism.
Together with developing infrastructure system and building attractive and unique tourism products, Thanh Oai should increase the attraction of investment in local tourism, and promote its image to visitors, he underlined./.
