Ha Nam Culture and Tourism Week 2023: Ha Nam – A journey of connection 

The event was held on the occasion of 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (19th May 1890 – 19th May 2023), 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (21st September 1973 – 21st September 2023).

Attending the opening ceremony program, the delegates and local people had a chance to watch the performance of traditional Kyogen comedies titled “Mushroom” – the first comedy genre born in Japan with a long tradition of 650 years, recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

The art program with the theme “Proud of Ha Nam land” was the highlight of the opening ceremony with 5 stages: “There is such a Ha Nam”, “Cultural interference” , “Pilgrimage route”, “Tam Chuc – Spiritual eco-tourism area” and “Ha Nam Color”. The program included special dance performances, elaborately choreographed to praise the homeland of Vietnam; Dear Uncle Ho, the beauty of the country, the people and culture of Ha Nam, the attraction of the Tam Chuc eco-spiritual tourist area…

According to Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Ha Nam is a land with a rich history and culture with a treasure trove of valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites imbued with the identity of the Northern Delta region. The province is a homeland of two special national monuments, 95 national-ranked relics, 3 national treasures, 12 typical Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Kyogen comedies titled “Mushroom”

The Vietnam – Japan traditional art performance exchange program was held to honor the beauty of traditional culture, the close relationship and strong friendship between the two countries, between Ha Nam province and localities and organizations of Japan.

Within the framework of Ha Nam Culture-Tourism Week 2023, there will also be 12 cultural, sports and tourism activities such as: investment promotion conference in the field of tourism, the first hot air balloon festival, display of typical antiquities, running race, dragon boat race – The first Tam Chuc Festival…

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio said that the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2023. Ha Nam Province is one of models for Japan-Vietnam friendship cooperation.

Introducing the Kyogen comedy , the Japanese Ambassador said that the people of Vietnam and Japan have a similarity in humor. Empathy and mutual understanding have contributed to building the foundation for the strong development of Japan-Vietnam relations.

“Through the traditional comedy Kyogen show today, I hope you can once again discover the depth of the cultural connection between Japan and Vietnam,” said Ambassador Yamada Takio.

At the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Mr.Vuong Dinh Hue handed over the decision to recognize 2 National Treasures for Ha Nam province. These are the National Treasures of Giau Pagoda Stone Stele (Dinh Xa Commune, Phu Ly City) and the National Treasure of Tien Noi Bronze Drum 1 (in the collection of 16 pieces of the Ha Nam Provincial Museum) belonging to Dong Son Culture with the dates from the 4th to 3rd centuries BC.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the decision for 4 cultural and historical relics and scenic spots as national-level relics, including: Historical relic of the Lat Son base (Thanh Son commune, Kim Bang district); Bat Canh Son scenic spot (Tuong Linh commune, Kim Bang district); Tam Chuc scenic complex (Ba Sao town, Kim Bang district); tom and memorial historic site of Nam Cao writer (Hoa Hau Commune, Ly Nhan District).
