(TITC) – From 1st to 4th September, on the occasion of the August Revolution and Independence Day 2nd September, at Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism (Dong Mo, Son Tay – Ba Vi, Ha Noi), many attractive activities imbued with the traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities with the theme “Happy Independence Day”.

Activities within the framework of
the event have the participation of more than 200 artisans, compatriots, and
artists of ethnic minorities.
During the event, there will be many
special activities such as: The Happy Independence Day highland market
recreates the colourful cultural space of ethnic groups in the Northwest and
Northeast with the highlight being the cultural space of the highland market,
creating an impressive highland market atmosphere for visitors to go to the
market and enjoy the cuisine, traditional specialties, ethnic culture, folk
games at highland markets are performed and introduced by ethnic communities to
serve tourists.
The market space is a combination of
a market festival space, an entertainment space associated with folk songs,
folk dances, folk games, a culinary space, and products with the colours of
ethnic groups Mong, Nung, Thai, Tay, Dao, Kho Mu…The centre of the highland
market is the booths of the local Tourism Management Departments displaying and
introducing ethnic products, including: vegetables and fruits such as spicy
pickled bamboo shoots, dried bamboo shoots, typical spices such as star anise,
cardamom, Clausena indica leaf…; Typical dishes of ethnic groups such as
thang co (horse intestines, men men
corn wine, roasted suckling pig with Clausena indica leaf, roasted duck, sour
pho, egg steamed rice rolls…; seven-colour sticky rice, grilled chicken,
pork, bamboo-tube rice, grilled fish; Introducing local culture and tourism;
Introducing and selling brocade of some ethnic groups.
Introducing the market cultural
space of the Mong, Thai, Tay, Nung… including reenactment activities such as
space to exchange, buy and sell, prepare traditional dishes, drink corn wine,
eat thang co, men men, celebrate and
share joy, space for Mong ethnic people to dance Khen, ethnic people to dance
Licorn Dance to celebrate the Independence Day and space for Thai and Tay
people…giao duyên (Reciprocal singing between men and women), sli, luon, coi
songs, space where ethnic people introduce the history, process, ingredients,
and how to prepare some unique ethnic dishes such as making wine, making
five-colour sticky rice, weaving process…
The highlight space is the Mong
ethnic people in Cao Bang province with Thang Co dishes and flute songs to
celebrate the Independence Day; attractive dishes such as roasted pig and
roasted duck; lion dancing activities, pounding sticky rice cake…
In addition, Phuc Sen blacksmithing
craft in Cao Bang province was also introduced and performed within the
framework of the programme along with the performance of the Lion and Cat dance
art of the Nung ethnic group (National Intangible Cultural Heritage). This is a
cultural feature imbued with the long-standing traditional identity of many
generations of the Tay and Nung ethnic people.
In addition, Happy Independence Day
also brings folk songs and folk dance programmes with performances to celebrate
the country, praise the homeland, national identity and folk games of ethnic
groups, create a joyful and warm atmosphere, imbued with the traditions of the
ethnic groups, showing the uniqueness in diversity celebrating National Day 2nd
September.
On this occasion, many traditional
festivals continue to be recreated at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic
Culture and Tourism space such as: re-enacting the Wedding Ceremony of the Nung
ethnic group; re-enacting the ritual of carrying keeping-fire ghosts of the
Mong ethnic people…
