With available natural conditions, Binh Duong has great potentials for rural tourism development
Potentials to exploit
Talking to us, Nguyen Thanh Phong – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Binh Duong has greatly favorable natural conditions, especially the system of water reservoirs such as Dau Tieng, Than Tho, Can Nom, Da Ban, and Phuoc Hoa along with a system of rivers such as Saigon, Dong Nai, Song Be, Thi Tinh and canals. These are potentials to develop eco-tourism and rural tourism thanks to the river landscape along with the lush green orchards like Lai Thieu orchard in Thuan An city, Thanh Tuyen orchard in Dau Tieng district, Bach Dang pomelo orchard in Tan Uyen town, orange and mandarin orchards in Bac Tan Uyen district; many localities in the province have the ability to develop types of eco-tourism, garden, weekend resorts, river tours among others.
In addition, traditional craft villages are one of the traditional tourism products, which not only help the locality increase budget revenue and create jobs for local workers but also contribute to the conservation and preservation of local resources to promote cultural values and create an attractive tourist environment to improve infrastructure and protect the ecological environment.
According to Nguyen Thanh Phong, in general, the province’s natural resources are quite diverse. The exploitation of tourism products and forms over the past time has achieved certain results, but compared with the potentials, the available strengths are still limited and the development is not commensurate. The quality of tourism products is not high, monotonous, in small scale, with low competitiveness, and purely ecotourism combined with vacation and relaxation during the day.
To promote rural tourism development
In order to develop rural tourism, Binh Duong tourism over the past time has made moves to promote and develop tourism. With the identification of gardeners and fruit orchards in the province in general and in Thuan An city, Tan Uyen town, Bac Tan Uyen district, and Phu Giao district in particular to become tourist destinations associated with the economic development and new rural construction of the province, Binh Duong has issued a number of policies to support rural development and fruit orchards to serve tourism development.
In addition, in order to gradually form and develop the type of garden eco-tourism and community-based tourism in the province, contributing to well exploiting the available potentials and advantages of the province, and in order to diversify tourism activities to serve the needs of visitors to Binh Duong, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recent years has cooperated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize training courses on skills of developing garden eco-tourism and organizing business activities of garden eco-tourism, community-based tourism for gardeners in the province combined with field trips, surveys, and practical learning in developing localities of eco-tourism orchards in Tien Giang and Ben Tre, field surveys and orientation for gardeners and cooperatives to develop agricultural and rural tourism products.
Nguyen Thanh Phong said, in order to bring the tourism industry to develop comparably with the socio-economic development of the province, Binh Duong tourism will coordinate with sectors and localities to advise the province to call for investment and exploitation of the potentials and strengths of the province to form a system of new tourism products, especially rural tourism products to serve tourists in combination with propaganda, tourism promotion, and to develop its own tourism message of experience and sensation; at the same time, promote linkages with localities in the Southeast region to develop products and rural tour routes.
