Ready to promote potential products and local specialties at the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival

From December 10 to 13, 2023, Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Network Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 will officially take place, with many attractive and unique activities. To ensure that activities and events take place successfully, currently agencies, units, localities, and businesses have been urgently preparing the necessary conditions to participate in the regional scale event that was held for the first time. Thereby, it will promote potential products and local specialties to domestic and international friends.

OCOP products are ready to be present at the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Network Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023

2023 is the first year that Ca Mau province organizes the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Network Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta, with the theme “Ca Mau Shrimp Festival 2023 – Proud of Vietnamese brands”. This is a large-scale regional event held in the province with many attractive and unique activities on trade, investment and tourism promotion, along with many cultural and artistic activities, etc.

To ensure good organization and participation in events, this time, the People’s Committees of Ca Mau districts and city have directed relevant agencies to contact businesses and cooperatives (cooperatives) with OCOP certified products and some typical local products, especially products made from shrimp to proactively prepare conditions to participate in the Ca Mau province organizes the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Network Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023. In particular, mobilize businesses and OCOP entities in Ca Mau district and city to participate in displaying, introducing, promoting and consuming OCOP products; participate in conferences connecting OCOP subjects with distribution units and organizations inside, outside the province and abroad; guide OCOP subjects in product development, brand development, e-commerce transactions, etc.

Mr. Pham Minh Sang, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Cai Nuoc district, said: “To prepare for the organization and participation in the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Network Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta, Cai Nuoc district has proactively and actively coordinate with provincial departments, branches, and relevant units to implement activities and events within the framework of Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 as planned of the Provincial People’s Committee to agencies, units, organizations and individuals, especially OCOP subjects. Accordingly, price stabilization work for products and services in the district has been implemented. Select 30 effectively operating businesses, cooperatives, typical shrimp farming households, OCOP subjects, and potential OCOP in the district to participate in the event. At the same time, focus on implementing activities to support OCOP subjects in preparing products and necessary conditions to participate in the event. Thereby, we hope to contribute to promoting the district’s seafood raw material areas and specialties to domestic and international customers. This is also an opportunity to expand the market for products that are the district’s strengths such as shrimp, crab, bulrush plants, etc. and other OCOP products”.

Currently, localities are focusing on supporting OCOP subjects to prepare the necessary conditions to participate in the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival event and the OCOP Product Connection Forumin the Mekong Delta 2023

Mr. Le Hoai Phuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Ngoc Hien district, said: “Ngoc Hien district has promoted propaganda and mobilized subjects to participate in contests and OCOP product promotion programs in a series of activities at the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Network Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023. To date, the district has 07 subjects with 19 OCOP products and potential products expected to participate in display at the event. At the same time, performing well the management of prices of goods and services in the district during the event. In addition, the district also organizes activities to display and promote effective, advanced and typical local shrimp farming models; create video clips to promote local potentials and advantages; design gift baskets of typical local OCOP products; establish a delegation to promote OCOP products, attend programs, conferences, and seminars taking place at the event; widely propagate art performance activities, “Ca Mau Seafood Cuisine” festival and cultural experience activities, entertainment, sightseeing, etc. to meet the requirements of visitors during the event”.

Mr. Bui Van Chuong, Director of Tan Phat Loi Cooperative, in Tan Lap hamlet, Tan An Tay commune, Ngoc Hien district, said: “Having received local information and propaganda about the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival event and OCOP Products Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 taking place this coming December, we have registered to exhibit 10 products. Products include: Oyster crackers, deshelled dried shrimp, shrimp salt, shrimp floss, dried shelled shrimp, shrimp seasoning powder, shrimp paste, black tiger shrimp crackers, sour shrimp paste, crab crackers. These are products that have been recognized as having 3-star OCOP, including products preparing to upgrade to 4-star. Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Products Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 are considered a great opportunity for OCOP entities like us to promote local products to domestic and foreign tourists”.

Businesses and cooperatives are rushing to prepare products to participate in display and supply at the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta

Participating in this event, Nam Can district has currently prepared the conditions for participation, with 12 products meeting OCOP 3-star standards expected to be displayed and promoted at the event. These are potential products that the district is urgently completing to request the province to recognize 4-star OCOP in the near future. Ms. Mai Thi Thuy Trang, Director of Tai Thinh Phat Farm Cooperative, in Lung Duoc hamlet, Tam Giang commune, Nam Can district, said: “This is a big event, Ca Mau province will organize the first time and many people are interested, we want to take advantage of this opportunity to promote product promotion and introduction. The cooperative plans to exhibit at the event including 10 products, These are products recognized as 3-star OCOP and some potential products of the cooperative, of which 2 products are in the process of submitting documents and procedures to propose upgrading to 4 stars. We carefully prepare each product, from the product story to the packaging and labels, creating conditions for consumers and visitors to better understand the product”.

Through this series of events, Ca Mau wishes to promote and enhance the Ca Mau shrimp brand, OCOP products of the province and the Mekong Delta region. At the same time, to promote the province’s potential and strengths in economics, culture, tourism and sustainable development prospects. Introducing effective and advanced products and models, sharing experiences in production and connecting producers and processors with exporters and consumers. Thereby, increasing output and added value of products, expanding consumption markets, bringing the best benefits to people and businesses. This is also an opportunity for Ca Mau to invite domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to invest in developing the province’s shrimp industry. Facilitate the connection of business chains in the shrimp industry, to join hands in the sustainable development of Vietnam’s shrimp industry in general and Ca Mau province in particular, improving the reputation and position of shrimp in domestic and foreign markets.
