In 2023, the first Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 will be held, with the theme “Ca Mau Shrimp Festival 2023 – Proud of Vietnamese Brand” which is a regional-scale event, taking place from December 10 to 13, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square (formerly known as Provincial Central Square), Ca Mau city. Ca Mau Shrimp Festival will focus on activities that demonstrate the blend of traditional cultural colors of the nation with contemporary and modern cultural colors to arouse the synergy of Ca Mau province, creating atmosphere of solidarity, expressing the respect and hospitality of local people towards domestic and international tourists and friends. The main programs held at Shrimp Festival Ca Mau 2023 and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023, include:
1. The opening program of Shrimp Festival Ca Mau 2023 and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023, with the theme: “Ca Mau Shrimp Festival – Proud of Vietnamese brand”, taking place at 7:00 p.m., December 10, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square. With the form of theatrical cultural programs bearing the mark and characteristics of the land and people of Ca Mau; bringing beautiful images and memories in the hearts of domestic and international visitors, tourists, and friends about a Shrimp Festival, OCOP Ca Mau product brands are full of emotions and impressions; through building shrimp industry brands and OCOP products, especially Ca Mau shrimp brand. The program was broadcast live on VTV1 channel, Vietnam Television Station, Ca Mau Radio and Television Station and broadcast on a number of local stations throughout the country. 2. The exhibition and trade space of the shrimp industry and OCOP products, with nearly 400 participating booths, taking place from December 10 to 13, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square. In the form of exhibitions and commercial food booths, equipment, lines, processes, and shrimp processing technology; industrially processed shrimp products, products processed from shrimp by-products; food and environmental treatment products used in aquaculture; shrimp farming model applying high technology, organic, ecological; equipment for aquaculture; seed production using high technology and disease-free; specialty and seafood stalls (fresh) serving the central kitchen; exhibition and trade space for OCOP products (typical OCOP products of localities in the Northern provinces, the Mekong Delta and Ca Mau province). ​3. Organizing conferences, seminars, and training
3.1. Conference summarizing the tourism development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2023, with the theme: “Enhancing links – Sustainable development”, taking place at 08:00, December 10, 2023, at the Provincial People’s Committee hall. The conference aimed to evaluate the results of implementing the tourism development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2023; exchange and listen to comments and assessments from localities on the effectiveness of the regional cooperation program and solutions to be implemented in 2024 and the following years. At the same time, through the conference, we introduce local tourism products to provinces and cities in the region to connect, share experiences, and support mutual development. 3.2. Trade promotion session, taking place at 14:00, December 10, 2023, at Phu Cuong Hotel. To introduce and promote shrimp products; specialty products, characteristics, OCOP Ca Mau products; information about the potential for development of Ca Mau shrimp industry, about the market, identifying opportunities and challenges of specialty products, characteristics, OCOP products, especially seafood products of the province; sharing of organizations, experts, distribution businesses, and buyers about the difficulties and obstacles in consuming Ca Mau products and the current shrimp export situation, proposing solutions to consume products in the domestic and export markets towards sustainable development in product consumption; connecting product consumption needs. 3.3. Conference to announce planning and investment promotion of Ca Mau province, taking place at 08:00, December 11, 2023, at the Provincial Convention Center. This is a particularly important event in creating a premise, orienting development and attracting investment for Ca Mau province in the new period of local development. The conference provides basic information about Ca Mau province’s planning for the period 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050. At the same time, it introduces potential, strengths, strong areas, and priorities for attracting investment. local activities such as: aquaculture, processing and export of seafood, seaports, renewable energy, tourism; policies aim to create favorable conditions for potential domestic and foreign investors to easily access key projects, attracting investment to develop Ca Mau tourism as soon as possible. 3.4. Conference “Connecting trade of OCOP products in the Mekong Delta in 2023”, taking place at 08:00, December 11, 2023, at Phu Cuong Hotel hall. In the form of exchanging and sharing solutions and orientations to promote promotion activities and connect consumption of OCOP products in domestic and export markets; introducing purchasing standards of buyers and distribution businesses; sign a memorandum of understanding on business cooperation between OCOP entities and supermarkets, distributors, and businesses. 3.5. Training on “One Commune One Product Program (OCOP) for managers and OCOP subjects in Ca Mau province”, taking place at 2:00 p.m., December 11, 2023, at Phu Cuong Hotel hall. With the goal of improving capacity and updating the content of the set of criteria for evaluating and classifying OCOP products according to the newly issued Decision No. 148/QD-TTg dated February 24, 2023 of the Prime Minister compared to the previous set of criteria.
3.6. Conference “Current status and solutions for sustainable development of the shrimp industry”, taking place at 2:00 p.m., December 11, 2023, at the Provincial Convention Center. Responsible unit: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
3.7. Shrimp industry sideline sessions, taking place at 08:00 to 17:00, December 12, 2023, at Muong Thanh Hotel hall; each session is a topic, lasting about 90 minutes/session. Responsible unit: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
3.8. Workshop series
– Workshop “Building the value chain of Ca Mau shrimp industry”, taking place at 08:00, December 13, 2023, at the hall of the People’s Committee of Ca Mau province. Responsible unit: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
​- Workshop “Science and technology solutions for developing high-tech seafood, adapting to climate change”, taking place at 1:30 p.m., December 13, 2023, at the People’s Committee hall Ca Mau Province. Responsible unit: Department of Science and Technology.
4. Contest “Typical OCOP products at the OCOP product connection forum in the Mekong Delta 2023”, taking place before December 7, 2023 to December 13, 2023. In particular, the time to receive the product is before December 7, 2023; evaluation and scoring time, December 9 – 11, 2023; announcement and award time, expected December 13, 2023; product display time at the forum, taking place from December 10 – 12, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square. 5. General art performance, starting at 7:00 p.m. and taking place throughout the event at Phan Ngoc Hien Square. With the content and theatrical form of art performances throughout the nights with impressive art performances, music and cultural performances with the participation of famous artists and local talents. All of these things come together to create a unique, edgy and brilliant cultural experience for audiences and visitors to the culinary experience activities at the festival. ​6. “Ca Mau Seafood Cuisine” Festival, will take place throughout the event period from December 10 – 13, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square. With the arrangement and organization of food stalls, fresh seafood products and a collective kitchen to welcome and serve event visitors. Culinary space arrangement: invite organizations, individuals, and businesses operating in the restaurant and culinary fields to participate (the space is decorated with images related to shrimp and other aquatic objects). 7. “Street Parade” festival, will take place at 4:00 p.m., December 10, 2023, starting from Phan Ngoc Hien Square and moving on parade routes (with diagram, specific scenario attached). In the form of a parade of decorated vehicles designed to honor Ca Mau’s products; cultural and artistic activities, lion and dragon dance, festival opening drums, street circus, etc. exciting performances. 8. Organize tourist and model tours, taking place throughout the event period. In the form of arranging sightseeing, experience tours, cultural community tours of the Ca Mau river region associated with visiting shrimp farming areas, intensive and super-intensive shrimp farming models; shrimp farming areas with international certification, environmentally friendly shrimp farming models such as ecological shrimp farming (shrimp – rice, shrimp – forest, etc.), production facilities with OCOP products and coastal craft villages. 9. Closing program of Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023, are scheduled to take place at 19:00, December 13, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square. With content and form: Integrating cultural performance activities with awarding prizes for competitions and honoring organizations and individuals who have contributed to the province’s shrimp industry such as: good shrimp farmers, seafood processors, and inventing technological models in shrimp farming, etc. serving the Ca Mau shrimp industry. Awarding certificates of merit to unique works displayed within the framework of the Festival; awarded the awards “Vote for typical products of the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023; handing over the flag to the province hosting the OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta in 2024. At the same time, ​the Festival Organizing Board presented flowers to thank the sponsors accompanying Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023.
