Phu Tho elevates local OCOP products

The “One Commune One Product” program (referred to as the OCOP program) has officially been implemented in Phu Tho since 2018. Up to now, after more than 5 years of implementation, the whole province has 235 OCOP products meeting 3 stars or more (1 5-star product; 54 4-star products; 180 3-star products).

2023 is the first year to evaluate and classify OCOP products according to Decision No. 148/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on promulgating a set of criteria and procedures for evaluating and classifying the OCOP Program. Specifically, the District People’s Committee issued a Decision approving the evaluation results and issuing Certificates for 3-star OCOP products; The Provincial People’s Committee issues Certificates for 4-star OCOP products; The Central Government issues Certificates for 5-star OCOP products.

Accordingly, in 2023, Phu Tho had 107 products certified for OCOP stars (96 3-star products; 11 4-star products). In 2024, Phu Tho province strives to have 79 more products and product groups rated 3 stars or higher; Among them, there are 66 new 3-star products; 4 new 4-star products; 7 products upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars; 2 products upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars). By the end of 2024, the whole province will have 305 products meeting OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher.

Mr. Vu Quoc Tuan, Director of the Rural Development Department of Phu Tho province, said that the products evaluated and ranked this year are typical products with strengths and cultural features of the localities. The products have been invested by districts, towns and entities to design packaging and labels to attract consumers; has all necessary product information; QR codes, barcodes… ensure food hygiene and safety regulations. At the same time, strengthen advertising and trade promotion activities of OCOP products, organize entities with OCOP products to participate in displaying, introducing, and selling products at fairs and supermarkets; Connecting the consumption of OCOP products with units inside and outside the locality, associated with cultural activities, tourist tours… It helps to make the OCOP product brand of Thanh Ba district become increasingly well-known, contributing to increase income for local people…
