Only established a year ago, the Hoa Bac Community Ecological Agriculture and Tourism Cooperative headquartered in Nam Yen Village, Hoa Bac Commune, has promoted the role of members as well as the community in tourism development associated with the course to learn, experience and consume typical local products and services.
Ms. Do Thi Huyen Tram, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Hoa Bac Ecological Agriculture and Community Tourism Cooperative, said that cooperative members link up to coordinate and support each other in providing services, mainly community-based tourism.
The cooperative’s activities are to provide services, develop learning programmes and tours to serve groups to visit, learn culture, and experience some traditional crafts of the Co Tu people such as brocade weaving, knitting, ecological agriculture, skin tossing performances, along with culinary experiences.
According to Ms. Tram, the main goal of the cooperative is to connect resources to preserve national culture and develop organic agriculture, preserve forests and create sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
“The most obvious initial effect is that the cooperative has engaged members in organizing community tourism activities. Each citizen is the main subject. They have boldly participated, gained more skills, and are ready to organize programmes for welcoming large groups of visitors, including international ones.”, said Ms. Tram.
Meanwhile, Hoa Tien 1 General Production and Business Services has 46 years of operating experience, and is still continuing to transform, innovate and develop. “Currently, the cooperative’s DT100 and ST25 rice products have been recognised with VietGap standards. The cooperative is also building warehouses, purchasing milling and packaging machines to soon bring Hoa Tien rice to the market. We also commit to deploying cooperation with many units to support the output of typical local agricultural products, thereby helping farmers in the cooperative feel secure in their production.”, said Mr. Ngo Van Sinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hoa Tien 1 Cooperative.
Not only focusing on rice production, currently, Hoa Tien 1 Cooperative is also focusing on developing two clean vegetable areas, namely Cam Ne and Yen Ne, to make them to be recognized as 2 VietGap vegetable areas by 2024. “The cooperative is also opening a supplies store, which will sell clean agricultural products, targeting OCOP products. This both helps exploit potential and creates jobs for local people,” Mr. Sinh added.
