The event took place within the framework of the Forum “Developing agricultural and rural tourism associated with the consumption of agricultural specialties and OCOP products” organized by Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, Standing Unit of the Steering Group of the Agricultural Connection 970 in collaboration with the Center for Rural Development – Saemaul Undong, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, National University of Ho Chi Minh City organized on September 22.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Tran Thanh Nam said that the orientation of the OCOP Program in the coming time is towards a green economy and humanistic values. These are specialty products that arouse the creativity of people in rural areas, so humanistic values and green economy always accompany OCOP products.
Deputy Minister showed his expectation that the “Humanistic OCOP Space” will operate effectively with the support and cooperation of businesses and OCOP producers to promote OCOP products as well as conveying human stories and historical values to residents and tourists.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, “Humanistic OCOP Space” with the message “Humanistic values sublimate Vietnamese products” officially opened at a building with a 150-year history, built on the foundation of Gia Dinh citadel. Thereby, clearly demonstrating humanistic and historical values in this space.
Businesses whose products are selected to display here are meant to be community businesses, demonstrating their role and significance in sharing and supporting the development of the community, sharing the same “story” to promote the development of Vietnam’s agricultural.
According to Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Trang, Deputy Director of Saemaul Undong, turning typical local products into gifts and culinary dishes to introduce to tourists will achieve the dual goal of developing tourism while also helping to better consume agricultural products.
