Located in the west of Hanoi capital, Thach That District boasts rich tourism potential with many beautiful landscapes and traditional craft villages. The district currently has 209 relics such as communal houses, pagodas and temples, of which 33 are ranked national ones, 62 are ranked provincial and city ones. The most famous relic is Tay Phuong Pagoda – a special national relic.

The district is implementing a plan to develop agricultural and rural tourism economy associated with new rural development strategy in the period of 2022-2025 and to pilot two models of agricultural and rural tourism development; community tourism; smart tourism village; craft village tourism in the direction of green, responsible and sustainable tourism in Yen Binh and Tien Xuan communes.
According to the plan, Thach That district will develop at least 1 to 3 community tourism products associated with OCOP products. In 2022, Hanoi People’s Committee recognized two tourist sites at Thach That as a special national relic tourist attraction: Tay Phuong pagoda and Hoang Long ecotourism site.
Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism – Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh said that the locality should promote the development of green tourism, cultural tourism, and craft village tourism. He emphasized the important role of local people in sustainable tourism development.
People need to preserve the landscape and environment, especially in craft villages; improve civilized behavior skills. In addition, Thach That district should have a strategy to connect tours in the area and neighboring districts.
As a trainer on the knowledge of community tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Long, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism (University of Science, Society and Humanities) said that people need to change their thinking about tourism. With many strengths, Thach That district should combine the development of ecotourism and craft villages. People need to upgrade service quality at production facilities, improve reception and customer service skills.
