In 2023, many activities for connection and agricultural product consumption, have been done, especially in the last 6 months of the year. In July, the Provincial Farmers’ Association organized a fair of agricultural products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, attracting more than 10,500 visitors with an estimated value of sold products of more than 6.5 billion VND. In August, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade organized an exhibition market for products of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province, introducing products of 18 units that employ labor in especially difficult communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. In September, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated to organize a safe agricultural product fair and a conference to connect the consumption of safe agricultural products in Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak; the provincial Department of Industry and Trade organized a night fair to sell many typical rural industrial products. In October, the provincial Farmers’ Association participated in a fair exhibiting Khanh Hoa’s agricultural products in Ho Chi Minh City. Supermarkets, especially Co.opmart Nha Trang, have coordinated with a number of units in Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh to regularly distribute agricultural products from ethnic minorities and mountainous areas. Recently, agencies, units and individuals actively supported pumpkin consumption for farmers in Ninh Hoa.
Le Quoc Toan – Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers’ Association said that this year, the agricultural market will be more effective, integrating a number of trade promotion programs such as workshop on developing ecological agriculture, converting digital change in agriculture and production organization along the value chain; contest introducing typical local agricultural products. Putting agricultural products on e-commerce platforms is also emphasized. During the year, 2,460 households have been instructed to put agricultural products on e-commerce platforms; 115 types of agricultural products have been supported in building brands and signing sales contracts through e-commerce platforms; more than 1,200 tons of agricultural and aquatic products have been consumed and signed sales contracts via e-commerce platforms; 400 farmers have been trained in sales skills on e-commerce platforms. The Farmers Support Fund has a total accumulated capital of more than 93 billion VND in the province, providing capital support for more than 3,500 households, creating jobs for more than 8,000 workers, building nearly 400 models of cooperative groups and cooperatives. Lending is also integrated with the transfer of scientific and technical advances and vocational training. During the year, farmer associations at all levels coordinated to organize 80 technical transfer training classes for more than 4,200 members, teaching and coordinating vocational training for nearly 1,600 people.
The association also organized training on promoting business startups and attracting investment in the Mekong Delta and mountainous areas for 530 people; coordinate training on barcodes, traceability systems, building geographical indications, labels, agricultural product brands… Many households, including ethnic minorities, have become well-off and rich. Some households also have signed contracts with businesses to create large production areas; gradually built a unique agricultural product brand.
At the opening ceremony of the agricultural fair in July, Le Huu Hoang – Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested that departments, branches and businesses continue to coordinate with the farmers’ association to promote trade, connect supply and demand, cooperate, link production and consumption of products; promote agricultural production that meets VietGAP and OCOP standards; bringing safe products for consumption in restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, on e-commerce platforms and aiming for export, bringing high economic value to farmers…
Currently, all levels and sectors continue to coordinate to find scientific and technical solutions to help farmers organize production; forecast market information; promote agricultural products; train and disseminate standards and regulations for bringing agricultural products into the distribution and retail system; support people in applying digital transformation in production, harvesting, processing, consumption, promotion, and bringing agricultural products to e-commerce platforms… Particularly, the Provincial Farmers’ Association has proposed to organize a farm product fair of ethnic minorities Nha Trang in 2024. The Provincial Farmers’ Association and the Provincial Ethnic Committee are also developing a survey plan to establish a selling point for agricultural products typical of ethnic minorities in Nha Trang… Synchronous solutions will contribute to support consumption of agricultural products for farmers and ethnic minorities.
