Thus, up to now, the province has 277 recognized craft villages (184 traditional craft villages and 93 craft villages). Of the 277 craft villages, there are 256 tea craft villages; 7 agricultural processing craft villages; 11 craft villages of woodwork, rattan, palm curtain weaving and 3 ornamental creature craft villages. Craft villages have created jobs for more than 42,000 workers with an average income of VND 4.5-5 million/ month.

In recent years, the conservation and development of craft villages have always been concerned and directed by Thai Nguyen province. The Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 25/QD-UBND dated January 10, 2023 on promulgating the Plan for the implementation of the Program on conservation and development of Thai Nguyen craft villages for 2022 – 2030 period; provincial departments and agencies as well as the People’s Committees of districts and cities, have developed and implemented guiding documents, programs and projects to support production development, aiming to concretize the support policies for organizations, enterprises, cooperatives, production facilities and households living in craft villages. This initial effort has contributed to addressing employment and improving the livelihoods of local residents. Many products from enterprises and cooperatives in craft villages have been recognized as 3 to 4-star OCOP products and exemplary agricultural products.
