Collaboration of provincial departments to support OCOP products in An Giang

Mr. Le Trung Hieu – Director of the Trade and Investment Promotion Center said: “The outstanding event in An Giang province recently is the Cuu Long Delta Industry and Trade Fair held in Tinh Bien town in June. At the fair, many OCOP products have been introduced to consumers and attracted the attention of partners. The fair has attracted over 200,000 people to visit, purchase and achieved a total sales revenue of 14 billion VND.”

Through trade events within and outside the province, An Giang has strengthened its collaboration with other provinces and cities to expand the distribution network of OCOP products nationwide, support businesses in product consumption, seek potential partners and markets, and listen to feedback from consumers,…

E-commerce promotion

On the other hand, communication work is emphasized. The provincial departments continue their propaganda activities to raise people’s awareness of the OCOP program, especially promoting digital transformation, applying information technology to promotional activities, and bringing An Giang’s OCOP products to e-commerce platforms.

In the past year, An Giang Provincial Center for Trade and Investment Promotion has organized a training course on “Online Sales Skills on TikTok Platform” for about 100 businesses, co-operated with TikTok Vietnam Company to introduce “Farmers’ Market on TikTok Platform” for 10 businesses, and supported 19 businesses to participate in sales on the Shopee e-commerce platform,…

However, during the process of producing and trading OCOP products, businesses still face many challenges. Mr. Le Trung Hieu – Director of An Giang Provincial Center for Trade and Investment Promotion, analyzed: “In general, An Giang’s OCOP products currently lack diversity in design and have limitations in processing and preservation techniques, and the competitiveness of businesses is still low. When participating in e-commerce platforms, many businesses face difficulties with human resources and technology. To conquer consumers with OCOP products, businesses need to continue to improve quality, innovate designs, diversify promotional methods, business strategies and connection with consumers…”

It can be said that the OCOP program has currently spread widely, contributing to the transformation of agricultural production from individual to value chain linkage, while also contributing to the overall socio-economic development of An Giang province. Despite the difficulties, OCOP products are gradually asserting their quality in the market. It is expected that by the end of 2023, the province strives to have an additional 70 products certified as OCOP with 3 stars or more. /
