(TITC) – On 12th July, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism organised a press conference to inform about the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival 2023.

Accordingly, the festival will be held in order to promote the typical history and culture of the City, develop values from the city’s river and sea resources, and contribute to the brand positioning of Ho Chi Minh City – a river city rich in cultural identity; Thereby, spreading pride and love for the city as well as inspiring travel and discovering city destinations to domestic and international tourists, fostering socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
As scheduled, the festival will take place from 4th to 6th August at Saigon Cruise Port, Bach Dang wharf park, Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal area, Binh Dong wharf, Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism area and tourist areas, a number of other destinations in Thu Duc City and districts of Ho Chi Minh City with a series of unique cultural – entertainment – artistic activities taking place on the Saigon River, combined with other experiential activities, shopping promotions, art performances and a variety of other response activities.
The highlight of the event is the Art Programme with the theme “Saigon – Storytelling River” taking place at Saigon Cruise Port. This is not only the first real-life programme of Ho Chi Minh City but also a show reenacting the formation of nature and people through the development periods of Gia Dinh-Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City and the river is a heroic “witness”.
Besides, the “once business harbour” space in District 1 (Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe canal, Dien Bien Phu bridge to Thi Nghe bridge) and District 8 (Area along the embankment of Binh Dong wharf road, Ward 13, District 8) will be displayed with agricultural products, specialties, and fruits from different regions for people and tourists to visit and shop; an act to support farmers in promoting and consuming products.

Additionally, many activities also take place during the festival such as folk art activities, music shows, artistic lighting decorations along the canal, booths introducing regional cuisine, folk cakes, delicious fruits, typical products…
Water sports activities will also take place at the River Festival such as: Boat race at Bach Dang wharf, paragliding performance, Flyboard performance, artistic lighting performance of high-altitude paragliding area, traditional boat racing performance, water canoe performance and interactive SUP activities.
The River Festival also includes parade activities on the river, performances of national cultural heritage art forms recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage and organises folk games, programme to launch waterway tourism products and tours to stimulate tourism in Ho Chi Minh City.
