A forum, themed “Solutions to develop medicinal herbs according to the value chain associated with ecotourism”, was held in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau on July 7.
At the forum
Vietnam currently has more than 5,117 species and subspecies used for medicine and health improvement. In particular, most precious and rare medicinal plants with high economic value are distributed in natural forest ecosystems. Most of the precious and valuable herbs live under the forest canopy, especially under the canopy of the primeval forest.
Many localities have been developing medicinal herbs in the forest environment and successfully associated their forest development with ecotourism development.
Lai Chau has a total forest area of 472,676.04 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 51.87%; therefore, it has many potentials and strengths for economic development under the forest canopy.
