(TITC) – Part of a series of events towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (7th May 1954 – 7th May 2024), on the occasion of New Year 2024, the People’s Committee of Dien Bien province will organise the 9th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival, the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship in 2024 and a tourism promotion conference in Muong Lay commune.

Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival takes place from 31st December 2023 to 3rd
January 2024
This is an event aimed at preserving
and promoting traditional cultural values, responding to the campaign “All
people exercise their bodies following the example of the great Uncle Ho”
and launched a movement to practise physical training and sports to improve
health, gradually develop recreational sports and adventure sports, and create
a joyful and exciting atmosphere for people and tourists on the occasion of
welcoming the new year.
Thereby, from 31st December 2023 to
3rd January 2024, the 9th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival, the 4th National
Paragliding Club Championship in 2024 will take place at Mechanical Boat Wharf
in Muong Lay Town. Besides, the conference to promote tourism in Dien Bien
province will take place on 1st January 2024. Cultural and sports exchange
activities, sports dance, ethnic costume performances, ethnic sports
competitions, experiencing folk games, displaying and promoting tourism
products, Traditional culinary contest takes place from 1st to 3rd January
2024.
People and tourists participating in
the festival can also experience practical and attractive activities, such as:
Visit the lake bed, directly watch artisans make Tinh Tau instruments, rattan
chairs, experience making Khau Xen (like prawn crackers but firmer and chewier)
and Chi Chop (made from steamed sticky rice, spread thinly, and dried) cakes,
interact at Thai ethnic stilt house homestays, fly and experience paragliding…
