For 40 years, Ba Dui lake has long become a resting stop for local people on their way to fields. From the main road through Ba Dui village, turn at Ba Dui Primary School, cross the stone road about a few dozen meters to reach Ba Dui lake – a small water reservoir, containing water to irrigate the fields below in Ba Dui hamlet. Located in an isolated place, the space and scenery around the lake are very quiet and retain the purity of the mountains and forests. In the distance, the water surface glimpsed the blue umbrellas of fishermen. Under the gentle light, the lake surface is calm, without a ripple. Around the lake are patches of deep green forest, creating a poetic and peaceful scene in the mountainous region… Many local people in the area often come here to catch fish because there are a lot of fish here. The lake has also become a destination for those who love recreational fishing and enjoy being immersed in pristine nature. Tran Duy, a resident of Dien Dien commune, who traveled dozens of kilometers to come here to do fishing, said that he heard from his friends that there was an ideal fishing place here, so he came to find it and was actually very satisfied with this place. The atmosphere here is romantic and quiet, helping people forget their daily worries while fishing for entertainment and admiring the poetic and peaceful scenery…

We met Phan Dinh Tuyen – Chairman of Khanh Binh Commune People’s Committee. When asked about the potential of Ba Dui lake, he could not hide his pride in this local landscape. He said, the lake is responsible for storing water for irrigation, but the lake is located far from residential areas; so, it still retains the wild nature. The commune evaluates this as a place with potential for tourism development. Currently, the district’s tourist attractions are concentrated in the western communes; the northern communes have almost no spots. If Ba Dui lake is invested in to become a destination, it will create harmony in the picture of tourism development in the district.
According to Le Van Cuong – Head of the District Culture and Information Department, currently the district’s authorities are developing a project to develop community tourism associated with promoting the values of ethnic minority identities in the period 2021 – 2025, with a local orientation to 2030. According to the plan, the district’s tourism development sites will mainly follow rivers, streams, waterfalls… For lakes under the management of localities and governing sectors, the district will also consider and propose to be included as tourist destinations. Promoting the value of natural landscapes in the district needs to be encouraged, in accordance with the development orientation of Khanh Vinh district to become a mountain and forest ecological micro-urban according to Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on construction and development of Khanh Hoa province until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Therefore, for Ba Dui lake, it is necessary to research and survey more closely to awaken the potential of this place.
Ba Dui reservoir has an area of nearly 9.4 hectares, with a basin area of nearly 0.6 square kilometers. The lake was built in 1980 on a small stream flowing into the Cho River, in Ba Dui hamlet, 4km north of the Commune People’s Committee. Ba Dui eeservoir is responsible for providing water to irrigate rice fields in the area.
