Khanh Hoa province: Agricultural product fairs bring mountain specialties to coast

Khanh Hoa agricultural product fairs organized by the Provincial Farmers’ Association this year had hundreds of booths. Cao Minh Tam from Ba Cum Bac commune, Khanh Son district said: “I only did farming before. Now I brought purple sugarcane and jackfruits to the fair in Nha Trang city, and many people have bought them. I am very happy.”

A lot of farm products sold

The atmosphere at the durian booths of Khanh Son farmers is the busiest. A seller at a booth revealed that 10 tons of durians brought to the fair had been sold out for 2 days.

The 2023 exhibition market for products of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Khanh Hoa province organized by the Department of Industry and Trade in July was a rustic space. The stalls are made from thatched huts, recreating the highland market of ethnic minorities.

According to Ha Hong Hanh – Chairwoman of the Provincial Farmers’ Association said that the association had organized 5 provincial agricultural markets since 2016. In July and August every year, the harvest time of many agricultural products, fairs take place again. A lot of agricultural products are of mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas in Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh. Khanh Son farmers have durians, jackfruits, purple sugarcane…; Khanh Vinh farmers have green-skinned grapefruits, wild bamboo shoots, vegetables, and upland rice… Especially, at the fairs, farmers have opportunities to sell their products by themselves, helping producers and consumers get closer together. Consumers can partly understand the production life of farmers, and farmers can grasp the demands of the market for agricultural products.

Huynh Tan Hai – Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that agricultural product fairs create opportunities to promote the image, people and production life of people in the mountainous areas of Khanh Hoa. There, consumers can directly access typical and unique products of the mountainous region.

Singing performance at a fair

Along with these fairs are seminars and conferences on connecting supply and demand so that farmers, businesses and organizations can sit together to seek opportunities to connect and expand markets. Through these activities, farmers, especially ethnic minorities, grasp the demands of the market, thereby contributing to changing the awareness, way of thinking, and working of growers, thereby gradually meeting the needs of the market and responding to the current trend of green, clean and sustainable agricultural development.
