Developing community-based tourism at Yen Lap district, Phu Tho province

Transport infrastructure is invested and upgraded, which will “pave the way” for many types of economic development, especially tourism. With the goal of “Documenting and restoring a number of typical cultural heritages of the Muong ethnic group at Yen Lap district, thereby, contributing to maintenance and preservation of the unique cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group”, Yen Lap district will restore four typical cultural heritages of the Muong ethnic group at My Lung commune, including: Dong Suong Temple; production & working tools, traditional crafts; Ha Dien festival; performance of gongs, mortar pounding, pipe touching dance, Senh Tien dance, swing drums, singing which boys and girls sing back, and singing which is rustic and lovingwith a cheerful nature, praises and greetings…

In the coming time, Yen Lap district will document and digitize documents on the traditional cultural heritage of the Muong ethnic group in the area. Specifically, documenting the type of tangible cultural heritage includes natural, cultural, social conditions, daily life and production & working. Documenting types of intangible cultural heritage, including groups of voices, scripts, folk literature, folk performing arts, social practices, traditional festivals, folk knowledge, etc. The typical traditional cultural heritage of the Muong ethnic group at My Lung commune, selected and restored, includes: Dong Suong Temple Relic, traditional working tools (rice mill, water pole, loom. .), Ha Dien festival and performances of gongs, mortar pounding, Senh Tien dance, swing drums, singing which boys and girls sing back, and singing which is rustic and lovingwith a cheerful nature, praises and greetings…

Mr. Dinh Tien Duat – Chairman of People“s Committee of My Lung Commune said:”Developing community-based tourism at My Lung commune is a part of the project of restoring, preserving and promoting a number of typical cultural heritages of the Muong ethnic group at Yen Lap district. Right now, the political system and local people have stepped in and reached a high consensus, especially in the work of mass mobilization and land donation for construction of transport infrastructure and religious culture. Along with that, the commune continues to mobilize socialization resources from the people to develop accommodation places, contributing to improvement of the infrastructure for tourism development in the locality”.

Community-based tourism development at My Lung commune is considered a “new wind” in economic development at Yen Lap mountainous district. With the right vision along with mobilizing the people”s consensus, in the future, this place promises to become a stopover for tourists when returning to the Ancestral Land.
