The Festival of Agricultural Products, OCOP and craft villages associated with tourism – Thai Nguyen 2023 was organized by Thai Nguyen Province People’s Committee on November 30 evening at Vo Nguyen Giap Square (Thai Nguyen City). This is a large-scale event to introduce and promote trade in agricultural products, the first time held in the area. The program comprises 120 booths from over 40 provinces and cities, gathering hundreds of typical products bearing strong regional cultural characteristics. Thai Nguyen Province alone has nearly 40 booths, focusing on its strengths such as tea, vermicelli, and distinctive agricultural products from different localities that have achieved OCOP ratings of 3 stars, 4 stars, etc. During the opening speech, Comrade Le Quang Tien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized: Thai Nguyen aims to expand exchanges and promote its socio-economic development achievements through the Festival; to boost trade, investment, and tourism with other provinces and cities; to further strengthen cooperation in production and business, attract investment, and contribute significantly to the implementation of the “Vietnamese prioritize using Vietnamese products” campaign and promote connections for consumption and export of agricultural products not only from Thai Nguyen but also from other provinces in Vietnam.

Participating in the program, enterprises and cooperatives in the province have carefully prepared, bringing the best quality and typical products of their units to introduce to customers inside and outside the province. Mr. Le Van Hieu, Chairman of the Board of Management, Director of Vo Nhai Agricultural Products Processing Cooperative (Vu Chan commune, Vo Nhai), introduced: We specialize in manufacturing specialty products such as bitter bamboo shoots, young tofu, soybeans, native red peanuts …, in which 2 products named dried Vo Nhai bamboo shoots and dried Vo Nhai shiitake mushrooms have been recognized with 4 stars OCOP. This is a very good opportunity for the unit to introduce and promote our products to more people, helping increase consumption. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, representative of Tan Cuong Xanh Limited Company (Tan Cuong Commune, Thai Nguyen City) said that the festival had a large scale, with the participation of many localities nationwide. In addition to introducing and promoting to customers, we also had great opportunities to meet and connect to cooperate for mutual development.

Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huong, Vice Chairwoman of Thai Nguyen Province Cooperative Alliance said: The festival is a particularly important event, helping enterprises and cooperatives introduce their production capacity as well as typical products while consumers have the opportunity to buy high-quality agricultural products, experience regional characteristics. At the same time, it is also a highlight to attract tourists from all over the world, promoting tourism development of the province.

“Support” for supply close to demand
Promoting the potentials and strengths of nature, Thai Nguyen has issued many guidelines, mechanisms and policies to support the development of agricultural products of the province. Up to now, the province has achieved OCOP ratings for 173 products standards, ranging from 3 to 5 stars (comprising 91 products rated at 3 stars, 80 at 4 stars, and 2 at 5 stars of national level). In an effort to bring high-quality agricultural goods closer to consumer needs, local authorities at various levels have consistently organized trade promotion activities.
Market of Vo Nhai custard apple products and Thai Nguyen province agricultural products held in August 2023 in La Hien commune was one of the activities for Vo Nhai district to continue to promote, communicate, and connect the consumption of custard apple products and various other agricultural products.
Following the success of the “Market of Vo Nhai custard apple products and Thai Nguyen province agricultural products” taking place in La Hien commune (Vo Nhai), “Promotion and Consumption Connection Program for Phu Binh Hill Chicken and Agricultural Products of Thai Nguyen Province in 2023”, led by the Provincial Cooperative Alliance, collaborated with the Northern Technical Economic College and the Special Agricultural Product Team of Thai Nguyen, organized a Livestream Program titled ‘Market Session for Consumption of Viet Cuong Vermicelli and Thai Nguyen Agricultural Products.’ The program featured two livestream sessions showcasing booths exhibiting and selling vermicelli products from the Viet Cuong Vermicelli Cooperative and exemplary OCOP products, as well as agricultural produce from 15 entities across the province. Notably, through digital platforms and personal TikTok channels, during the online sales livestream session lasting in approximately 4 hours, TikTokers and streamers attracted 12.8 million viewers and closed 900 orders for provincial agricultural products.
TikTokers and streamers conducted live sales sessions on social media platforms during the “Market Session for Consumption of Viet Cuong Vermicelli and Thai Nguyen Agricultural Products”.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Chairman of the Board of Management and Director of Viet Cuong Vermicelli Cooperative, stated: This is the first time Viet Cuong Vermicelli Cooperative has collaborated to conduct live sales streams through social media platforms. Following the success of this event, we are certain that our unit’s interaction and sales transactions will significantly increase. We are currently partnering with the Provincial Cooperative Alliance to provide training and workshops for our cooperative members to enhance their skills and proficiency in selling on social media platforms, aiming to bring our products even closer to our customers.

In addition to organizing networking and promotion events in the province, the Trade Promotion Center (Department of Industry and Trade) also accompanies enterprises, cooperatives, agricultural product establishments to participate in fairs and festivals in provinces and cities nationwide. This includes connecting for product display and sales at supermarkets and shopping centers. Additionally, there’s a strong focus on developing e-commerce trading platforms, providing support for product design, printing labels, packaging, and maintaining and expanding digital maps of craft villages. As of now, the province has 2,600 products from over 240 units, including 173 OCOP products and 60 exemplary rural industrial products supported for listing on domestic and international e-commerce platforms such as Postmart.vn, Lazada.vn, Tiki.vn, Alibaba.com, …
As planned, in December 2023, the Trade Promotion Center (Department of Industry and Trade) in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Pho Yen City will implement the program “Promotion of agricultural colors in the 4.0 period – Thai Nguyen 2023”, along with many other practical promotion programs, supply-demand connection to help bring typical agricultural products to reach far, contributing to promoting agricultural production, as well as the general socio-economic of Thai Nguyen province.
