Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 take place from December 10 to 13, 2023
Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Mekong Delta Product Connection Forum 2023 with the theme “Ca Mau Shrimp Festival 2023 – Proud of Vietnamese brand”, is a regional-scale event, taking place from October 10. until December 13, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square (formerly known as Provincial Central Square). The opening program of the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 takes place from 7:00 p.m., December 10, 2023, at Phan Ngoc Hien Square and will be broadcast live on VTV1 channel, Vietnam Television Station, Ca Mau Radio and Television Station and broadcast on a number of local Radio and Television Stations throughout the country.
Mr. Tran Hieu Hung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, informed: “To prepare for the event to take place as planned, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province is urgently completing the decoration, celebration, selection of publications, songwriting, and visual propaganda. At the same time, we actively coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications to promote event propaganda content in the media. Deploying visual propaganda along main roads in the inner city of Ca Mau and routes to districts and Ca Mau Cape, expected to be completed by November 30, 2023. The Provincial People’s Committee has approved the opening program script framework, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is coordinating with units to work and unify the live television script with VTV Can Tho and the event organizing company. The festivities decoration of the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival area is expected to be completed on December 8. In addition, in the series of events at the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned to host a conference to summarize the tourism development cooperation and association program between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2023. Currently, the tourism product survey program has been completed and coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism to develop reports, summary video clips and other related activities. It is expected by December 6, all work will be completed”.
Businesses and OCOP entities are ready to participate in the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023.
Up to now, the work of organizing, arranging and arranging exhibition space for the shrimp industry trade exhibition and the OCOP product trade exhibition has been basically completed, with a total of 387 booths/141 participating units. Of these, there are 223 shrimp industry product booths, accounting for more than 70% (98 booths outside the province, 125 booths in the province) and 164 OCOP product booths (127 booths outside the province, 37 booths inside the province). The programs, scripts, conference content, seminars and shrimp industry side sessions at the event are being urgently completed. The work of arranging and organizing farming areas, standard farming models and coastal craft villages to serve sightseeing and tourism activities is being carried out urgently, currently reaching about 90% of work progress. Locations with standard farming areas and farming models and coastal craft villages associated with tours and tourist attractions have been selected. Accordingly, 02 sightseeing routes have been designed, including Ca Mau city route to Thoi Binh district and Ca Mau city route to Dat Mui commune, Ngoc Hien district for different audiences. In addition, the province has sent an official dispatch to relevant localities and units to review and compile a list of businesses, cooperatives, farming facilities, purchasing facilities, etc. to proactively prepare aquatic materials, ensuring timely, complete and quality supply for the event, especially the Seafood Cuisine Festival will be taken place throughout the event.

Aiming to socialize the organization of the festival, most of the activities in this Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023 are organized by businesses and organizations, individuals to register to participate in implementation. The activities are also organized in an open direction, increasing interaction with the community so that residents and visitors can directly participate in festival activities.
Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: “Funds for organizing events are socialized, so the accompanying role of businesses, organizations and individuals is extremely important”, contributing to the overall success of the event. Currently, there are many units contacting to support and sponsor the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the OCOP Product Connection Forum in the Mekong Delta 2023. This event is an opportunity for businesses and cooperatives to introduce and promote products and technologies in the field of production, processing and post-harvest preservation of shrimp, other aquatic species as well as other OCOP products.; in order to facilitate exchanges and experiences between provinces and cities in the region and the whole country, especially meeting with domestic and international customers. Hopefully, businesses and cooperatives will grasp and make good use of cooperation opportunities at this event to promote product consumption, contributing to promoting the development of production and processing of products from shrimp, OCOP products of Ca Mau province and other provinces and cities in the region and the whole country”.
Through this event, Ca Mau province wishes to promote the province’s potential and strengths in economics, culture, tourism and sustainable development prospects. Creating an atmosphere of solidarity, expressing the respect and hospitality of local people towards domestic and international tourists and friends. At the same time, promote and enhance the Ca Mau shrimp brand, OCOP products of the province and the Mekong Delta region. To facilitate connection of shrimp industry business chains to join hands to promote sustainable development of Vietnam’s shrimp industry in general and Ca Mau province in particular. Thereby, they contribute to improve the reputation and position of Ca Mau shrimp in domestic and foreign markets.
