Helping each other develop the economy
The district Farmers’ Union has more than 14,000 active members in 16 grassroots unions, 131 branches, and 485 group-level unions, among which there are 2,395 core members. To effectively promote the role of its members in participating in the construction of the new-style rural areas, the union has intensified propaganda and raised awareness among its cadres and farmer members about the criteria for the new-style rural areas and the enhanced new-style rural areas. These activities are under different forms of community communication, training sessions, and the engagement of clubs, branches, and group-level unions.

The movement “Farmers emulating in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably”, associated with new-style rural construction, has been widely launched by the district Farmers’ Union to the grassroots. This movement, with its rich and practical content, has contributed to enhancing the lives and income of its members and farmers. The union has implemented various practical activities, such as organizing training sessions to transfer science and technology supporting plants and livestock breeding to help its members develop production. Simultaneously, it has collaborated with specialized units to conduct 617 training courses to disseminate agricultural production support policies and transfer science and technology to over 22,000 union members.
In 5 years (2018-2023), various levels of the district Farmers’ Union have maintained 95 labour exchange groups, contributing nearly 8,000 days of labour, which has helped 453 households develop economically. In addition, union members have provided capital support and interest-free loans amounting to over 1 billion VND. They have additionally provided support for the construction of 17 charity houses, which were donated to members facing housing difficulties, with a total cost of nearly 2 billion VND. Notably, the “Farmers emulating in good production and business” movement has garnered active participation from farmers across the district. Every year, more than 3,000 farming households achieve excellence in production and business at various levels, with many farmer households excelling in large-scale production and having annual business turnover in the billions of VND.
Joining hands to build rural areas
With the motto “The State and the people work together”, over the past five years, farmer union members and the local people in the district have donated over 11,690 square meters of land, contributed money, and provided more than 5,000 days of labour to build and repair 238 kilometres of roads, over 15 kilometres of drainage ditches, repair and construct quarter and hamlet halls, install street lighting systems, plant flowers on the roads, and more, with a total value exceeding 10 billion VND.

In the movement to build new-style rural areas, the various levels of the Farmers’ Union play a role in leading and directing farmers to develop the economy and improve their lives. Over the past years, the union has actively propagated and mobilized farmers to adapt and be flexible in their transformations, as well as to apply scientific and technical advances in farming and animal husbandry, resulting in high economic efficiency. In the coming years, the district Farmers’ Union will continue to mobilize its members and farmers to promote sustainable agricultural development in conjunction with building new-style rural areas. |

Thanks to proactively innovating operating methods, farmer union members have gradually shifted their mindset from traditional production to organic and environmentally friendly agriculture. Consequently, the district’s farmers have had over 30 agricultural products recognized by the province for meeting VietGAP and OCOP (One Commune One Product) 3-star and 4-star standards. Notably, the Loc Quang Organic Black Pepper Cooperative, located in the Loc Quang commune, has been a pioneer in adopting digital technology in production, contributing to cost reduction, increased productivity, and improved product quality. In the 2022-2023 crop season, the cooperative harvested 90 tons of pepper sold and exported various pepper products to both domestic and international markets, including products like freeze-dried pepper and five-colour black pepper.
With their practical and effective approach in recent times, the various levels of the Farmers’ Union have awakened and promoted the potential of their farmer union members, building the district to become more prosperous, beautiful and civilized, especially in building new-style rural areas, intending to transform Loc Ninh into a new-style rural district by 2024.
