Currently, Bac Giang province has 857 operating cooperatives, including 665 agricultural cooperatives (accounting for 65.5 percent). The agricultural cooperatives are shifting towards diversifying the fields and services, producing clean products under the chain and linkage with businesses to consume products.
Main activities such as producing clean vegetables, clean meat, medicinal plants, honey, Yen The hill chicken, soy sauce, lychee, pineapple, red dragon fruit… are in line with domestic and international safety standards.
Bac Giang accelerates to promote the products, connect supply – demand, support people in digital transformation and consumption of OCOP products via online platforms and e-commerce floors
Developing product under Once Commune One Product programme (OCOP) and cooperatives is a mutual task. In addition to add value, create more jobs and improve the lives of rural people, entities and cooperatives, developing OCOP product has improved qualifications, management capacity, product quality and brand promotion methods of local products.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang province Le Ba Thanh said: “After 5 years of implementing the OCOP program, the province had 205 products achieving OCOP rated at least 3 stars, including 31 products achieving 4 stars and 174 products with 3 stars. It helped Bac Giang rank 2nd in the Northern midland and mountainous region and among the top localities in the country in the number of OCOP products. Of which, 10 products were exported, 56 products were sold at the chain of stores and supermarkets to bring high revenue of over 626 billion VND (over 26 million USD) to cooperatives and farmers.”
When participating the cooperative alliance, OCOP subjects will be supported in accessing policy capital and promoting product consumption
Recently, the activities of agricultural cooperatives have made many important contributions to local economic development. In particular, in the current new situation, they help gather workers in a common economic organization.
