Rural tourism prospects in Phu Tho

Experiencing the development process of history, Phu Tho has become home to traditional festivals towards origin, typically Hung Kings’ Death Anniversary – Hung Kings’ Temple Festival, a cultural and spiritual symbol, a gathering point for the great solidarity spirit of Vietnam. Phu Tho has two representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity that have been registered by UNESCO as Phu Tho“s Xoan singing and Hung Kings worshiping belief in Phu Tho… Vietnam”s tourism development master plan to 2020, with a vision to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 201/QD-TTg dated 22/01/2013 has identified Phu Tho as one of the key areas for tourism development of the Northern midland and mountainous region associated with the Hung Kings” Temple Festival and the system of relics of the Hung Kings’ era. Along with humanistic tourism resources, Phu Tho has quite rich and attractive natural tourism resources, including: Xuan Son National Park, Thanh Thuy hot mineral water resort; Ao Chau lagoon, Van Hoi lagoon, Ao Gioi – Suoi Tien, Cu Thang waterfall, Long Coc tea hill… Beside the attractive natural and cultural tourism resource system, Phu Tho is also known as a province with many traditional craft villages that have been formed for a long time with unique products containing the soul of the nation and the typical cultural colors of each locality. In addition, agricultural products, cuisine and specialties of such a rich midland region… are favorable potentials for exploitation and development of agricultural, rural and community tourism products in the province.

In the province, there are a number of rural and community tourism products that have been formed and initially put into operation: Xuan Son National Park community eco-tourism product; Hung Lo community cultural tourism product associated with experiencing products of cake making, rice noodle craft villages…

In order to develop community tourism and rural-agricultural tourism, the province has developed and implemented the Rural Tourism Development Program in building new style rural areas by 2025, with the specific goals of developing and standardizing rural tourism destinations and products; striving to have at least 4-6 recognized rural tourist spots associated with the province”s advantages in agriculture, culture, craft villages or ecological environment; 50% of rural tourism service business establishments recognized as meeting the standards to serve tourists… To achieve the set target, the province will focus on upgrading and investing in developing rural tourist spots in association with the implementation of new rural construction criteria; focus on developing tourism products of high quality, diversity and difference, associated with regional identity and characteristics, experiential and high added value, oriented to the market and adaptable to the needs of each type of visitors such as: Experiential eco-tourism, community tourism, spiritual tourism, traditional festivals in the Fatherland region…
