As a highland commune in adverse socio-economic conditions, it takes a lot of work to fulfill the criteria in the program. Although the commune has tourism potential, limited local resources have hindered investment and effective exploitation. Therefore, attention from the higher level is needed to increase rural tourism and improve the quality of life in rural mountainous areas”.
Similarly, Dakrong District, in general, currently has a lot of potential for rural tourism: a typical high-value forest ecosystem and Dakrong Nature Reserve with a diversity of rare flora and fauna, a system of rivers, streams, and caves with fresh, unspoiled beauty – especially Klu hot spring, which is ideal for relaxation and healthcare.
This land is also home to the Bru and Pacoh minorities, accompanied by their unique cultural identities, lifestyles, housing architectures, practices, festivals, and traditional craft villages. These selling points have drawn tourists for sightseeing, study, and experiences.
Based on the available advantages, the district has featured typical tourism products such as brocade items, Ruou can or fermented rice wine, and many others being restored in the ethnic-tourism cultural village of Lang Cat and Klu village.
To continue effectively exploiting the local potential and standardizing rural tourism products and destinations, Dakrong District has set a goal for 2025 of having one to three rural tourist attractions associated with the local agriculture, culture, traditional crafts, or ecology and recognized as meeting tourism service standards.
Moreover, rural tourism will be boosted in parallel with the digital transformation process, with targets of at least 50% of rural tourist attractions being digitized and promoted on tourism pages, 100% being introduced and encouraged, and 30% adopting electronic transactions in tourism activities, among others.
To achieve the established goals, the locality will focus on upgrading rural tourist spots following satisfying the criteria for building a new countryside.
At the same time, Dakrong District will also foster rural tourism products with local characteristics, enhance rural tourism promotion as well as train tourism staffs. Local tourism policy makers will research and design models of rural tourism development towards green, sustainable and responsible.
In addition, Dakrong District will focus on effectively implementing relevant mechanisms and policies. They include providing directions for rural tourism development and integrating them into socio-economic development planning and rural planning, fostering rural-urban linkages in tourism development, prioritizing rural tourism development in locations, and connecting with leading tourist areas and tourist centers…
The mobilization, integration, and effective use of resources for rural tourism development also receive attention.
Accordingly, the locality will mobilize social resources and funding from international organizations, corporate investment, agricultural cooperative organizations, community contributions, and other legal sources for rural tourism development.
Similarly, innovative start-up ideas, initiatives, projects, and models in agriculture and handicrafts associated with rural tourism will be encouraged and called for. Meanwhile, communication will be furthered to raise awareness and improve knowledge, and boost actions of the Party committees, authorities, organizations, tourism staff, the people, and tourists regarding sustainable rural tourism development in new rural construction.
In parallel, the locality will organize festivals and foster activities to connect tourism in the regions as well as enhances communication and promotion of rural tourism products at fairs and exhibitions.
In addition, Dakrong District will focus on the application of technology and digital transformation in rural tourism in the locality. Besides, information exchange as well as the coordination between related sectors and fields will also be enhanced for effective and consistent rural tourism development.
In 2023, the program of building a new countryside will continue to be carried out by Dakrong District, along with restructuring the agricultural sector and developing the rural economy in terms of depth, efficiency, and sustainability.
The locality will also strive to fulfill the 115 criteria met by the end of 2022 and another 143 by the end of 2023.
These numerous solutions in rural tourism development implemented by Dakrong District in the coming time will contribute to effectively exploiting the local potential and advantages and carrying out the new rural construction program in the locality.
