Lively Van Phuc Cultural Tourism and Trade Week 2023

(TITC) – In order to promote traditional silk weaving in Van Phuc ward (Ha Dong district, Hanoi City), on 18th October, in Ha Noi, People’s Committee of Van Phuc Ward organised a press conference to inform about the organisation of Van Phuc Cultural Tourism and Trade Week 2023.

This is an activity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Van Phuc Ward (30/10/2003 – 30/10/2023), thereby enhancing trade, tourism and diverse local industry promotion activities.

The Van Phuc Cultural Tourism and Trade Week 2023 themed “Van Phuc – Colors of Integration” will run from 26 October to 2 November (including some activities ending on 5 October). Some main activities take place during the Van Phuc Cultural Tourism and Trade Week 2023 include: cultural and artistic activities and folk games; Opening night on 26 October, a music programme performed by professional singers and actors, presenting a reportage “Van Phuc 20 years of development and innovation”; the receiving ceremony of the Certificate of recognition of National Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Certificate of recognition of the Capital’s tourist destination. Competitions, folk games, and countryside fairs are held with many exciting and attractive activities.

The organisation of trade fairs for handicraft products and traditional craft village ornamental creatures from 26th October to 5th November; the first contest of typical craft village products with the participation of 10 establishments with 30 typical products for performance on the night of the arts show Graceful Ha Dong Silk taking place at 7.30pm on 27th October.

Visitors can enjoy various activities on Silk Street, Food Street, Ornamental Flower Street, Antique Street, and stalls selling handicraft products from Bat Trang Ceramic Village, Kim Lan Ceramic Village (Gia Lam District), Quat Dong Embroidery Village (Thuong Tin District), and Phu Vinh Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Village (Chuong My District).

There are also experiential tours and visits to historical and cultural sites, such as the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, communal houses, pagodas, and ancestral temples. Visitors can learn about traditional silk weaving and experience weaving at Van Phuc Silk JSC, Nguyet Nam Silk, Mao Silk, Lan Son Silk, or Vun (Scrap) Art Cooperative.

According to Nguyen Van Du, Chairman of the Van Phuc Ward People’s Committee and head of the organising committee, preparations for the event are now complete.

He added that the entrance of Van Phuc Silk Street is splendidly and impressively decorated with the traditional colours of the “Silk Village” land.

The street features a vibrant and colourful array of silk lanterns stretching hundreds of metres, beautifully arranged spinning wheels, and paintings depicting the village’s silk production process. In particular, a glass bridge is currently being installed to enhance the tourist experience.
