The activity is organized by the People’s Committee of Lap Vo district (Dong Thap province) from September 25 to 26, 2023, at the campus of Tong Son communal house, My An Hung A commune, Lap Vo district.
Diversified agricultural products of Lap Vo district
The event consists of activities such as: Opening of the Taro Festival; Workshop on preserving and promoting the potential and value of taro; Contest of taro culinary processing and demonstration; agricultural product consumption conference; introduce and trade products from taro, key agricultural products, and OCOP products.
The taro festival opens at 8:00 a.m on September 25 in Lap Vo district, there is a fairly large taro growing area, from 1,400 hectares to 1,500 hectares, concentrated in communes: My An Hung A, My An Hung B, Tan My, Hoi An Dong, Binh Thanh Trung. There are cooperatives or association halls in taro production areas. Annual taro output is about 25,000 tons – 30,000 tons.
Lap Vo taro has a lot of starch, textured flesh, and a light aroma. Thanks to their experience in growing taro, plus training from the industry to transfer production processes and disease prevention and treatment measures, farmers manage production effectively. Currently in the district, there are 100 hectares of taro produced in a safe practice, 108 hectares of taro are VietGAP certified, and there are 06 taro growing area codes.
