Chi Linh’s project to develop the tourism sector until 2025 with a vision to 2035 will fully exploit the locality’s tourism potential and values.
Tourism values of many relics in Chi Linh city have not been fully exploited
Hai Duong province’s Chi Linh city has many advantages in tourism development.
The city is home to 10 national relics, 20 provincial ones, and 101 annual traditional festivals, including Con Son – Kiep Bac special national relic site.
The city Party Committee issued a project to develop the city’s tourism sector until 2025 with a vision to 2035 in June 2021 to fully exploit these values.
Chi Linh city authorities have since spent more than 418.9 billion VND in renovating relics, tourist destinations, and amusement parks and building traffic infrastructure and auxiliary works for tourism development.
The locality pays attention to creating practical tourism products like sightseeing, festivals, sports combined with entertainment, business, and seminars.
The city has so far had 32 OCOP products associated with relics, such as Chi Linh honey, An Lac cai hoa vang sticky rice, Chi Linh hill chicken, etc.
Chi Linh can basically meet visitors’ needs with 35 accommodation establishments with 558 rooms, including one three-star hotel and two establishments recognized as tourist accommodation ones.
There also are 16 stopovers combined with product presentation and 55 eateries under the management of the city authorities.
The most obvious highlight demonstrating the city Party Committee’s determination is the core zone planning for tourism development in the city’s general plan with a vision to 2040.
The zone for developing eco-spiritual and resort tourism associated with conserving special national cultural heritage covers an area of 7,510 ha in the wards and communes of Cong Hoa, Le Loi, Hung Dao, Van An, Hoang Tan, Chi Minh, Pha Lai, Co Thanh, and Bac An.
The city’s spatial planning will help local Party committees and authorities work out appropriate policies to exploit resources from tourism.
Chi Linh city has also intensified tourism promotion on the mass media and actively participated in trade promotion conferences to introduce typical agricultural and tourism products of the locality.
As a result, Chi Linh has made new strides in tourism.
The city welcomed 820,891 visitors in 2022 alone.
The local tourism sector has raked in more than 489.6 billion VND in revenue since project implementation, completing 69% of the target set in the project.
Income from tourism has been gradually improved, contributing to local socio-economic development.
Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thuong said that to fuel the city’s tourism sector, it is necessary to increase investment in building additional tourism infrastructure from the State budget.
“The provincial People’s Committee should have mechanisms and policies to encourage organizations and individuals to carry out projects at tourist destinations,” added Thuong.
He also suggested spending on inter-regional traffic infrastructure and attention to heightening the status of unique festivals in the city.
