Ca Mau: Approving the project to develop resorts and eco-tourism in U Minh Ha National Park

(TITC) – The chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee officially approved the U Minh Ha National Park Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Project until 2030.

U Minh Ha National Park located in Vo Doi hamlet, Tran Hoi commune, Tran Van Thoi district, is one of 34 National Parks of Vietnam, recognized by UNESCO as one of three core areas of the Mui Ca World Biosphere Reserve. Of the more than 8,500 hectares owned by U Minh Ha National Park, about 1,761 hectares are primary forest. This is the only remaining primaeval forest area in Ca Mau province, with about 176 species of plants, 23 species of mammals, 91 species of birds and 47 species of amphibians and reptiles.

The goal of the U Minh Ha National Park Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Project to 2030 is to develop ecotourism, resort and entertainment in U Minh Ha National Park in a sustainable way associated with conserve and develop the Indigo forest ecosystem and biodiversity of U Minh Ha land; preserve landscape and protect the environment; ensure harmonious interaction between exploiting and developing tourism and protecting natural resource values.

On that basis, U Minh Ha National Park organises the implementation of a project to develop eco-tourism, resort and entertainment in 2 functional areas with a total area of 1,318.5 hectares, including: Administrative service subdivision of 743.6 hectares and part of the ecological restoration subdivision of 574.9 hectares. Ecotourism, resort and entertainment activities are divided into 6 functional areas: tourist reception area; ecotourism destinations; flora and fauna collection garden and medicinal garden (Safari garden + animal model); area recreating forest villages and traditional craft villages; Resort; souvenir tree planting area.

In addition, there are also tourist routes such as: Internal routes connecting tourism functional areas (operating by means of motorbikes, cars, trams, canoes, walking…) and routes connecting tourist attractions in the region such as: Hon Da Bac (Silver Rock) tourist area, Song Trem ecotourism area, community tourism households and connecting other tourist areas and destinations inside and outside the province. Therefore, the construction of resorts and ecotourism in U Minh Ha National Park will create favourable conditions to connect with these routes and points.

The approval of the U Minh Ha National Park Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Project until 2030 will be an opportunity to exploit the potential and advantages of tourism development, associated with preserving the Indigo forest biodiversity ecosystem; contributing to promoting and attracting tourists to visit, explore and experience eco-tourism associated with nature conservation.
