(TITC) – In the framework of the Festival of Conservation and Development of Vietnam Craft Villages in 2023, on 10th November, Hanoi City jointly signed a cooperation agreement with Lund University (Sweden) and the World Crafts Council (WCC) to promote the development of traditional craft villages.

Speaking at the event, Deputy
Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ta Van
Tuong said that the agreements will strengthen cooperation between Hanoi and
foreign partners to develop traditional trades in the capital city; preserve
traditional values and cultural identity of craft villages.
Hanoi also wants to expand
cooperation, exchange and share experiences in consulting on the preservation
and development of crafts, as well as design-related activities for the
sustainable development of craft villages in the city.
Vice President of the World Crafts
Council Kevin Murray highly appreciated the development of Hanoi craft villages
and the efforts of the Capital government in conservation work, and hoped that
both sides would soon concretize contents, to promote cooperative activities in
preserving and developing craft villages in Hanoi. It is expected to strengthen
cooperation in the preservation and development of handicrafts and promote the
model of creative craft villages, which aligns with Hanoi’s policy of developing
craft villages and enhancing creative design based on the objectives of the
UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in which Hanoi is a member.
