Ba Vi National Park finding direction to develop ecotourism and rent forest environment

(TITC) – On 27th September, at Ba Vi National Park, the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences coordinated with Ba Vi National Park to organise a seminar on developing ecotourism and rent a forest environment.

Speaking at the seminar, Prof.Dr. Vo Dai Hai – Director of the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences said, Vietnam’s forest ecosystem is rich and diverse in biodiversity; beautiful landscape, high forest environmental value. Forest environmental value is an important part of the value of forests, especially in the current context of climate change. Revenue from forest environmental services and forest environment rental is a source of finance in forestry; The environmental value of forests will contribute to the low added value of the forestry industry.

Implementing the Ecotourism Development Project, Ba Vi National Park organises the leasing of special-use forest environments to provide ecotourism services combined with forest protection. Location and area of Ba Vi National Park areas signed forest environment lease contracts with units in accordance with the Project approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Park’s tourism service business has made big progress. Tourists visiting the Park in recent years have tended to gradually increase, creating revenue for the Park with revenue levels each year being higher than the previous year. Temple of President Ho Chi Minh, Temple of God Tan Vien Son, Trung Temple, Tan Vien Pagoda,… are places that attract a large number of tourists, including the majority of students coming to camp, intern, research…

At the seminar, delegates listened to a number of reports of experts, researchers, forestry managers and forest owners such as: Current situation of renting forest environment for ecotourism development; Assess the current situation, potential, difficulties, opportunities and challenges of leasing forest environment to develop ecotourism on protective and special-use forest areas; Propose some solutions to promote forest environment leasing to develop ecotourism in Vietnam; Mechanisms and policies for renting forest environment for ecotourism development; models for renting special-use forest environments for eco-tourism in Ba Vi National Park.
